Within a split second, social media erupted with response to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz defeating Beto O'Rourke, the Democratic challenger, in Texas.

Many rejoiced the incumbent senator's win, while others expressed disappointment over O'Rourke's loss. O'Rourke's maverick campaign caught the nation's attention and he got closer to a Lone Star State win than expected in a state known for its conservative leanings.

Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano was the first to suggest O'Rourke run for president on the 2020 ticket. She tweeted: "Beto lost? That's ok. Now he can run for President." Others soon joined in on the virtual Beto chant, including Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
